It struck me that though Aria seems slow-paced and gentle, ultimately it mimics an often-mimicked pattern identified by Joseph Campbell as “the Hero’s Journey.” It’s what made mythology survive and it’s what made Star Wars a “saga.” When I think “heroes” and “journeys” I think Lord of the Rings for whatever reason, and I don’t think I’m alone in that: the word conjures the old, the sword-and-spell fantasy, the mythological and grand, the legendary. And yet, after much thought, I have discovered that Aria follows the same pattern. That Akari is a hero. That her time on Aqua, her time that spans three years (seventy-two months) and fifty-two episodes, is a journey.

Author described his position in the aniblogosphere, claiming that:

Ani-nouto is not an editorial blog as such, but rather a parasitic blog, like a worm in our intestines. Its mere existance is a testament to the size of animeblogging, from which Ani-nouto derives its feed. Remove the other blogs, and it is reduced to fairly ordinary hating of beloved cultural icons (which the likes of Lolikitsune do better anyway).

What Author fails to properly address with his pitifully short blurb is that not only is lolikitsune adept at hating beloved cultural icons, but he is also adept at hating beloved community icons. As in, Jason Miao. As in, other anime blogs. In simpler terms, Ani-nouto is NOT the only meta aniblog. notdotq is one as well. The only thing notdotq doesn’t muck around with is constructive interblog interaction. notdotq ravages.

And, like all good rape victims, other aniblogs learn to love it.

I know that Author’s my senpai at life but he needs to show respect and pay dues where respect and dues are due.

So I saw, much to my dismay, that I’m still leading Best Satire. No matter. The impossible has occurred. My rage has been diminished. The Anime Blog Awards have redeemed themselves with a new turn of events.

Of course, Ex-Fansubber Hitorigoto site isn’t the funniest on that list. The funniest in terms of intentional comedy is most likely Daijoubu. Kurogane’s is just sad because he’s a fanboy of moe and dislikes trolls. Hinano’s site is too… girly :\ Riuva and Jason are (a little) funny in the same unfortunate way—how the fuck did they become so popular? No one knows. All anyone knows is that they just did.

Nagato Yuki’s sluttiness will always be a little funny.

Fuck profanity, I want to live.
