Someone was bitching at me about anime blogging the other day. A friend, even. And he likes this blog. Maybe.

Anyway. I don’t have much to say… been doing the same old anime-watching-reduction thing. But I finished some stuff recently, so I guess I can do some recapping.

Kyou no Go no Ni—awww, what a touching story. Actually, I don’t really know about this little OVA thing. I feel like it would have been better if they’d stuck to dumb ecchi, or if they’d tried to make it cute and sweet from the beginning. The abrupt change from panchira jokes to “become a better man and marry me” was … abrupt. Anyway. I enjoyed it. Took way too long to get out. Stupid semi-annual OVAs.

Elemental Gelade—I gave this a 10 on AnimeSeen. I enjoyed it a lot. Yes, the ‘quality’ on an objective scale is not too high. Production isn’t far above Naruto and I can’t tell whether those backgrounds are a stylistic thing or just cutouts for convenience’s sake. But what this show has going for it are a good cast, a plot similar in spirit to Scrapped Princess, Cisqua (who fucking rocks beyond belief), and Pirate Ren in the last 2 minutes of the show (I’d hit it. I really would. Oh my god she’s hot).

Genshiken OVA—it was really just more of the Genshiken show, in OVA form. And it was fun, just like the show. The OVA had a bit too many lesbian undertones, though :\

Lucky Star 11—alright. Alright. I’m sorry. There it is. I’m admitting my mistake, just as predicted by the comment-leavers on my first Lucky Star post. Yes, I enjoy the show. I skip the OP every time and enjoy the jokes, and the dad is awesome. Kona’s dad that is. And yeah, I mean it. He’s awesome. It’s always the dads—Bleach, Shuffle!, Tsubasa Chronicle, Romeo x Juliet… it’s always the dads.

Nana 43—sooooo goooooood. Nobu’s going for suicide girl. I hope she goes for him, too, in a Higurashi no Naku Koro ni kind of way. Bad jokes aside, this show really is good. Thank you, Ureshii, for making me ureshii.

Other than anime, I’ve been spending my summer break doing stuff like writing and making maps for Warcraft III. Sleeping a bit here and there, not sleeping a bit here and there, hanging out with friends, and generally having a ball. I feel super good these days, and my first ‘job’ type thing’s coming up—a paid internship at the local lab. Should be good.

If you wanted me to keep blogging in spite of my misanthropic/elitist/judgmental ways, well, you have your wish I guess. Though posts like this are about all I can manage right now.

Oh, and proof that Pirate Ren is the hottest thing since Nagato Yuki sucked herself off:

BECK (14) – I began watching this because Shirukii rated it a 10/10. I figured his tastes had to be alright—after all, he rated AIR 10/10. That’s a man I can respect. So, I grabbed this show off my brother’s computer and have been watching it maybe 3, 4 episodes a night for a couple days. It’s pretty fun. I’m not sure if it’s excellent, and it frustrates me with the bullying (something I simply can’t stand for some reason), but it’s fun. I find the OP to be rocking and the amount of engrish kind of lawlworthy. Watching the show with French subs has so far been an incredibly interesting experience, actually. For one thing, I’m learning lots of French slang I didn’t know (in particular, slang) and my association between Japanese and French is only becoming stronger. When I try to remember certain lines characters just said in Japanese, I think of them in French. This may be a good thing, it may be a bad thing. Either way, it’s damn interesting.

Bleach (115) – I restarted the show at episode 110, where filler left off. I’m not a huge fan of the show (and have been known to rant against it) but I’m enjoying this “part two” of sorts. The daddies are kickass and Ichigo’s an emo bitch. Too bad Renji just showed up… I can’t wait for them to start yelling at eachother like two retarded morons.

Death Note (17) – this series is that with the best pacing of all time. Each episode amazes me. Now, excuse me whilst I browse Danbooru with my right hand, write Kyousora content with my left hand, and—MASTURBATE TO PICTURES OF SAYU.

Fruits Basket (14) – this show shouldn’t really be tagged “watching” seeing as it’s closer to my “on hold” category. I don’t have a lot to say at the moment since it’s been a loooong time since I watched episode 14. I guess… I’m watching the series with my brothers, one of whom moved away recently, and am waiting for that one to come back before watching more. By the way, girls with issues and girly guys with issues = winning description.

Kanon 2006 (20) – I went into this having seen Toei’s Kanon. I went into this with the knowledge that Kanon’s “plot,” being the trend-setter for a generation of crappy anime, is, well, for lack of better words, shitty. I went into this with the knowledge that Kyoto Animation is win, and that’s what kept me going for the first bit. Yuuichi suddenly became funny, and the show became tolerable. Counting “uguu~”s also became a favorite pastime. The animation quality exceeded my expectations and I found myself watching episodes three, four times a piece. I’ve converted all of l33t-raws’ 1024-pixel-wide HQ releases to the highest quality h264 for my ipod. I realize the truth: the magic that is beauty has taken hold of me, as it did with AIR. Of course, I prefer Summer to Snow, and this show’s OST can’t compete with Natsukage, but the facts are as they are. I’ve begun to like Kanon.

Kyou no Go no Ni (3) – Weird that this is in “watching” seeing as there have been three episodes in the last 12 months. It’s not exactly the most time-intensive anime I’m following. I need to write a post about episode 3, which was amazingly disgusting. By that I mean the loli fanservice I expect of this OVA series was present in abundance.

Kyoushito to Towa no Sora (6) – Well, you all know what I think about this one, yes?

Maria-sama ga Miteru OVAs (2) – god that second one was pure win. It’s the best anime can get; it’s the “AAAAAAAAAARGH~! THEY TOOK MY DICK!!” of animation. I can’t get over the beauty of the comedy, both intentional and unintentional. Yumi going Suzumiya Haruhi, the people around her preparing to rape her, “that’s profoundly scary, Onee-sama,” and the face-touching porn. Maria-sama ga Miteru is love.

Naruto Shippuden (2) – a rocking start to the second half. I have to say I was quite impressed with this double episode. Of course, it’s to be expected of the show with one of the best first episodes ever. Even Konohamaru was bearable all of a sudden. The comedy, while recycled, was refreshing, and the production quality was omfgwtfnowai high compared to during filler. Overall, I’m extremely pleased. Only qualm? Kyuubi looks like a motherfucking totoro.

Nana (35) – this show never ceases to amaze me. At least it hasn’t ever since it switched to Osaki’s (is that her name? I just think of her as Nana…) perspective. The “am I weird?” thing and “not knowing what a real friend is” or how to act around them… I guess there’s something to her mindset that rings familiar with me, and watching this show has become a sick thrill. It’s good. It’s really good.

Yummy anime overdose!

.hack//Roots (8) :: I’m liking the BGM. I’m not liking much else. I should mention that I want to turn Tabby into puree.

Black Lagoon (5) :: I’m not exactly sure why, but I’m loving everything about the show. Shinsen should sub more episodes some time soon.

Blood+ (32) :: Kai is the coolest character since Shinji Ikari. Rock on.

Disgaea (6) :: dumbest show I’ve seen in a long time, but for some reason it’s not unintelligent in the same way as a lot of less dumb, more pretentious shows I’ve seen recently (Fate/Stay-night.) It makes me feel younger when I watch it, and that’s a nice feeling.

Ergo Proxy (9) :: predictable, unstable, and damn good.

Fate/Stay-night (21) :: disappointing. I’m tired of this show and need it to be over.

Good Witch of the West (5) :: the moral of the first story arc is that wtfyaoi solves everything. I should be disgusted, but Roux makes a damn cute girl.

Gundam 08th MS Team (6) :: this has been sitting on my HD for a few weeks/months now. I should just finish it some time.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (8) :: <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 though episodes 1 and 5 blew, and 9 most likely will as well.

Himawari! (5) :: <3 <3 <3 though the “de arisu” girl can go die.

Infinite Ryvius (8) :: un-sucky Sunrise! Woot!

Joshikousei (6) :: why do I watch this? It sucks plain and simple.

Kyou no Go no Ni (1) :: I NEED MORE OF THIS.

Love Get CHU (1) :: I NEED MORE OF HER.

Naruto (a lot) :: get off filler, bitches. You have your plot.

Nana (7) :: it’s ok, but ep 6 was annoying as hell for me. I hope they don’t do full episode frame-for-frame recaps again.

Ouran High School Host Club (8) :: “And if you put earplugs in, you won’t hear the noise.” … brilliant. Tamaki is the new Warai no Kami.

Soul Link (8) :: it’s getting better. And it still sucks ass.

Strawberry Panic! (8) :: it’s getting less humorous. And it’s still hilariously bad.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (8) :: it’s getting worse, and worse, and worse. :(

The Third (3) :: holy shit she’s awesome.

Tsubasa Chronicle (28) :: um, the OP and ED for the first season were better. ’nuff said.

Windy Tales (8) :: hmm. Interesting show. I like it, but it’s kind of boring at times.

Witchblade (3) :: sucky get-up in witchblade form. Take it all off, damn it.

xxxHOLiC (7) :: Watanuki sucks. Yuko is my new god.

Yume Tsukai (3) :: fun stuff, but is it good?

Zegapain (4) :: the angst is beginning already. Woot! I just need more subs now.

Let’s examine the following equations, given that nothing has a negative value…

Ichigo Mashimaro = loli + kawaii + comedy + yuri
Kyou no Go no Ni = loli + kawaii + comedy
Ichigo Mashimaro > Kyou no Go no Ni

As shown with mathematical logic, the inclusion of shoujo ai in Ichigo Mashimaro gives it a decisive edge over Kyou no Go no Ni. And this is why shoujo ai is good. This is why oyaji Nobue onee-chan is so awesome. Sure, Kn5n2 is looking interesting… but it’s missing something important. And that’s the sexually confused lolicon older sister. Without that, it’s just inferior to Ichigo Mashimaro. Shoujo ai can make a show.
