My One Qualm With Haruhi 2.1

The first episode of the long-awaited Haruhi Season 2 was well worth the wait, but it had one major failing. One of the really nice touches in the first season was how awkward the SOS Brigade was. Everyone was hiding something from everyone else and Haruhi was pretty much forcing interactions between people who needed to keep their distance from each other. Fast forward three years (holy shit!) and you’ve got the SOS Brigade members consulting each other, sharing information with each other, and working together to deal with “the threat” of Haruhi.

This change is one for the worse, I feel. It eliminates one of the most fun dynamics of the original series.

it is moist & delicious meta

and it's not even a lie!

  1. This is a strange thing, since the episode occurs within the timeline of the original series (before the final episode in chronological/narrative sequence).

This would mean a terrible inconsistency if your observation proves correct. I had thought that during the baseball game there was a degree of cooperation already very similar to what’s observable in this ep, but I could be wrong.

  2. Yeah, but there was a scene with megane Yuki.

  3. Wow, no “OBJECTION”s? I’m astonished…

  4. OBJECTION

    You suck

  5. That’s not quite what I was looking for.

  6. “OBJECTION!” It’s only natural.

  7. Well, the more you are stuck in a room with people you don’t know much, couple that with a push-over like Haruhi, the more apt they are to linger with each other.

Oh, I used wrong words. Everyone’s just “too helpful”, but that really happens.
