we're finally notdotq anymore
for now, let's reminisce about a nostalgic future while standing in the hall

Happy Fucking New Year, Worms |
It's categorized as Commentary.
It's tagged over nine thousand things, including: anime blog awards • dotq • ghostlightning • jason • lelangir • maria-sama ga miteru • midori no hibi • new shit. What a slut.
At least it only has 11 comments and 1,278 views.
We Remember Hate.
Miao on My Mind was way too slow to combo[1], and I’ve been meaning to dismantle it for a while now. With a final push from ghostlightning, I got off my ass and did it. Welcome home, master. This is notdotq again.
Does this mean I’ve stopped hating Jason?
No.
Does this mean I’ve become less of an asshole?
Fuck no.
So what does this mean, you ask?
I’m taking a step back from shit. Twitter and the fast pace of the aniblogosphere are too much for me right now. I want to be writing, not keeping up with trolling/drama. I’m not saying good-bye; I’m merely waving from across the street.
I’m still _here_.
I’ll blog Maria-sama ga Miteru 4 as promised. I’ll keep working on OH! I’ll keep up the collab work with ghostlightning and lelangir. And I’ll keep trolling. But I’m going to be less active, and a better platform for such neutrality is one that does not scream “I am Jason Miao!” “I hate Jason Miao!” I said I wouldn’t rely on my hatred of him in the Anime Blog Awards this year, and I meant it.
I’ll still participate.
I’ll still win.
But it will be with these two hands, dubbed satire and Midori.
*ahem*
I’ve got some resolution for the new year up at Dreams of the Quill. Only a few, really. ’sphere, what are your thoughts on the new year? Anything you’d like to change in 2009?
And is there anything you’d like to see from me?
Footnotes
these notes are like lelouch's head to the boot of this post's suzaku- by which I mean that notdotq became Miao on My Mind way too late [↩]

Thanks for the memories, (and the flutes).
I’m interested in some of your statements:
Twitter and the fast pace of the aniblogosphere are too much for me right now. I want to be writing, not keeping up with trolling/drama.
What does it mean to say that the pace of the blogosphere is ‘fast’?
Does Twitter make it fast? How so?

I want to see more worthwhile posts from you. Trolling is boring and dry, and while you’re good at it, your more heartfelt posts are so much better….

Thank god it’s notdotq again. I was getting sick of seeing his name every time I read your outstanding trolls and majime na posts.

@ghostlightning: the blogosphere is fast-paced in the sense that the “material” is passing through the “tubes” at a very quick rate. If I step away from my computer for a day, there are a hundred or so posts on ANO, and that doesn’t even begin to cover tweets or comments. Tweets I get (and only from a small fraction of the ’sphere) come to maybe 200-300 a day, often with links to more reading material.
It’s more than a person with a life can process–hence fast-paced. Shit happens quickly. Memes are spawned, abused, and forgotten in the space of a week or even a couple days. Epic aniblogger drama seems epic, but then it’s over in 8 hours and you’re left wondering what the hell just happened. Fast-paced.
@digitalboy: apparently you’re just another drop in the Anime|Otaku Mike bucket. I’ll show you the true meaning of trolling.
@Zeroblade: d’awwww, good to hear that from one of my long-time friends in the ’sphere.

Well, I haven’t really been following your blog…at all, actually, considering I’m fairly new and most of the references confused me. I’ve seen your comments and tweets and all that, though, so I’d like to see you take a step back and write something. The ’sphere can be fast indeed, and I’m currently doing my best to keep up with it, but I can definitely see the need to relax an write. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you produce good content. Good luck!

@ETERNAL: It’s good to see new faces and all that. Sorry for being cryptic and hard to understand. And uh, thank you very much for your well-wishes.

But who will troll, if not you, lolikit?!
A void has been left in the ’sphere, as if a thousand tiny voices cried out and were suddenly silenced

@Nazarielle: oh, I’ll still troll (did you miss the “Does this mean I’ve become less of an asshole? Fuck no.” ?), just my site layout is trolling Jason Miao less and I’ll be less active in various places throughout the ’sphere.
As for taking my place… um, anyone want to apprentice themselves to me? I’d love to retire for good sometime.

I’d like for lolikit to be more serious! I’ve advocated that a long time ago! :3
