Hiro's aunt is the mom, though I forget if she's his biological aunt, or his aunt by marriage.

You heard me. :)

Hiro, upon meeting Karada for the first time in the manga, basically decides to man up and take responsibility for his actions. That's one thing I've felt the anime lacked; it showed Hiro caring about Karada, but never why, or how deeply.

I'm going to hope you mean "probable sister" because his being her parent just came out of left field.

If you did in fact mean daughter, ummm, wooow. 0_0

In the manga, Karada is both his cousin and his probable daughter. The anime never did anything to contradict this, but almost completely ignored her origin and his family backstory.

The best way to compare the anime and manga is to say that "what" happens is mostly the same, but the "why" and "how" are very different.

It should be known that the manga it’s based on is a bit darker in tone.

Really? Wow. The anime was so... fluffy! I mean, it had its darker moments, but it was mostly bright and cheerful.

she isn’t actually his sister.

Right. That's the case in the anime, too. Or am I missing something?

I should finish this show, actually, but I never did for some reason :V

Don't make it a priority. It's good but it's not spectacular.

It should be known that the manga it's based on is a bit darker in tone. Also, while Karada is of the male lead's family, she isn't actually his sister.

Still, I liked both the anime and manga, just for different reasons.

I had it at ++ until the final arc (last 6 eps? I don't remember). I didn't really mind the ending; it just didn't take the direction I wanted. In any case, it's a solid slice-of-life/drama series. Now watch Touch.
