your thoughts have summoned this post from hell so, as i pray... Home > Archives > 2008 > November > 15 Moved to a New Host; Please Report ErrorsHey guys. I finally got off my ass and moved from Godaddy. It was a grueling process, but everything seems to be working now. Some text formatting got mashed in the MySQL database transfer, and I’ve already patched it up to the best of my ability… Please, all readers: tell me if something’s broken. I’ll fix it to the best of my abilities. If some links were damaged, or a page’s formatting messed up, etc., do let me know. In the comments. On twitter. By IM, or e-mail. Whatever. Make it happen. |
it is moist & delicious meta and it's not even a lie! 7 ResponsesLeave a Comment |

Hostgator’s pretty good for me so far; Experienced zero hiccups ever since I applied back in March.

I was with Godaddy because my older brother recommended it to me three years ago—it was the cheapest host, and it could do all I needed. Now, Godaddy doesn’t do all that I need, and it’s no longer the cheapest… so I sprang for Hostgator :) I hope that everything goes well :D

Everything’s working fine from where I am too – the pages seem to load faster, for one thing.
I’ve been using Site5 for getting on for over three years now, and don’t seem to get many problems with downtime and suchlike. The database connection goes down every now and then but otherwise it’s all good.

Load times should be faster, yeah. I think GoDaddy oversells (and oversells a LOT) because it was taking like, 12-20 seconds on average to establish database connections for the last year. I’m pretty happy with the new set up so far :)
