Evirus on Iriya, Saikano

The first third of Iriya is far superior to the first third of Saikano

Karmaburn’s latest post deftly dodges the truth of “would you like to lick them?” in order to jump on the convenient “Saikano is emo fail” ~~band~~wagon. While Saikano is far from perfect in the eyes of those not ready to abandon themselves to its emotional Amusement Park, we must keep in mind that Iriya no Sora was dictionary-definition trash. It had two good scenes (maybe three if you still care about the show at the end). Rather, I might call it the Strawberry Panic to Saikano’s Maria-sama ga Miteru.

Yupe it gets pretty irritating if you don’t like having some whiny babies as protagonists. But the show was decent enough, and I’d read the manga.

@frankeinstein: I loved the show, personally. But then, I watched it in one go at a time in my life when I was really emo and loved other things that were really emo. I sat on my bed watching it morosely for six hours straight and then I cried for six days and the whole experience felt really fulfilling. Not everyone’s idea of a good time, though, and I can respect that.
