your thoughts have summoned this post from hell so, as i pray... Home > Archives > 2008 > August > 31 Tetsuwan Birdy Decode = Ikkitousen, anime = crap?
Back in the day, there was this show called Strawberry Panic, and it was fun to mess around and point out all the places where it had borrowed heavily from previous series. These days it seems like nothing is original. At all. Macross F? Code Geass R2? More like, Macross (variable) and NGE. What’s new? Where is it? And why does the repetition suck? |
it is moist & delicious meta and it's not even a lie! 12 ResponsesLeave a Comment |

Wait, did NGE have the protagonist freaking forcibly taking control of GOD? I don’t think so.
… but, yeah, besides that, it has the same mindscrew/trainwreck factor…

Just let the LCL/Fill up your lungs

As far as CG == NEG, one tangible link does not a copycat make.

Oh, that was supposed to be NGE. Also, I’ve never finished a Macross series, so I can’t comment.

Neither have I.

I think NGE was better. Despite the mindfuck produced Anno has researched well on the Kabbalah and other mystical religions … and …
I’ll just go watch Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

Really? NGE didn’t have Count Lloyd.

My bullshit detector told me to keep away from these titles. Yupe, you’re only watching the bad shows. And most titles suck nowadays, not like every series is watchable, you know.
If you try to learn about plots academically, you’ll realize there’s no originality left in this world. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying Zerosaku yaoi hotseckz, lol.

I know not every series is watchable (and I’m not watching every series) but is there anything good? C’mon, gimme some hints.
What is bad/What is good/Give me a sign/WHAT IS CRAP?

Bullshit mode activated, don’t read if you have very short attention span:
Signs that tell you a series/movie sucks: giant boobs everywhere, lolis flying and firing rockets, stupid conceited bitch/emo wimpy faggot loved by everyone, over-the-top lovey-dovey moments, 5-mile-long nonsensical/obscure titles, shounen series that have new power-ups and new ultimate bosses every 10 episodes, shallow characters you can’t give a shit about, hideous artwork that can make you vomit etc… Some interesting exceptions may include series/movies that try to dumb themselves down, introduce many cliches just to break them like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy which won the Most Original award.
If a series doesn’t explicitly fall into those categories and still doesn’t capture your attention, wait until someone says something really good about it, and if it seems slow, save it for a marathon or dump it altogether. I know I didn’t follow Aria until it nearly ended.

I always feel guilty after saying sth too long for a comment.
