>>Independent thought as at an all time low

It's funny, this is the age of collaboration and the internet and all that, and yet statements like yours are accurate. Says something dreadful about the nature of groups, of cooperation, and of the average human being.

Most anime today is made so you don't have to think in my opinion. Actually I think its a problem that's plaguing all of society in this age. People would rather not have to think for themselves and prefer to have others do the thinking for them, which is why I think anime is so successful. Independent thought as at an all time low, so when the newest anime comes out the fans will eat up that which they have been told they should like by their peers. Since Moe activates a base instinct and the thought process of many is in the off position, they are drawn to the loli girls, bright colours and cutesy thing that the characters do. Because of this studios really need not develop their characters extensively anymore, they just need to make them 12 year old squeakers with moe traits.

For example I'll do it right here: Her name is Ayaki Sumono, she is 12 years old and deeply in love with her onii-chan. She wears a purple headband her in her hair that her older brother gave her and refuses to let it be taken off unless its by her onii-chan, otherwise she has a temper tantrum. She enjoys eating Ice-Cream, is a member of her schools swimming club, and she puts her Swimming cap on over her head band. She speaks with a -Mizu attached to the end of her sentences and wants to win the national swimming competition to make her Onii-Chan proud of her. That's it done, there is your "character", do the character design, package her and you've got a good shot at one of the most popular characters of the year.

Misanthrope. Get a life, motherfucker.

I'm kidding.

Feel free to vent whatever floats your boat on your blog. As for me, I'm still into anime and still into Kyoko from MI. :V

3 anime you should watch: DtB, Claymore, Bokurano ... and HONEY AND CLOVER. Wait, that's 4. Just do it.

>> Maybe I’m becoming a misanthropist :D

...you mean you weren't one already? =D

As for anime cons, I know the pain all to well. The largest one for us Canadians is coming up. I'm looking forward to it because it's where I hoard together enough manga to last me the year. But some of the people there just make you lose all your faith in humanity.

>>Whoa, nice 180 there.
The idea there is that I'm not jaded because of disagreeing perspectives, but that I'm sick of people being morons. I could have used more loaded language (as I normally do) but I was afraid someone like DigiKerot would turn it into "fuck anime, I want to live"—which he did anyway, apparently.

Owen- Fanime is a con.

Hinano- good to see someone else in the boat.

BigN- thanks for the interest. I like my blog too, but this is about more than just my blog, as I'm sure you understand. If there were no community, if this blog didn't link me to some other group of people, it might be different.

It all depends on what you're writing for. If you want your voice to be heard, if you want to "show" people "the right way", if you want to find out what other people think about anime, if you want people to see things the way you do, e.g. The options are endless, and if your reason doesn't work for you anymore, find something else to do. Though your blog is very interesting, IMO. :P

I personally don't think that moe itself it much of a problem, and that's probably because I don't pay attention to it, which is why I don't see Lucky Star as a moe anime for example (/me rolls eyes at "Sucky Star"). It's all in how you look at it, I guess.

Oooo, oooo! Can I say "fuck anime, I want to live!"?

Otherwise, nope, I have absolutely nothing remotely interesting to say.
