A Modest Proposal

Shows themed such as Kanon are plagued with the problem of needing to show multiple paths whereas the original intention of the story is to only show one at a time. Exposing them one after the next in the show in the way Kyoto Animation did works, after a fashion, but isn’t exactly ideal. Focus changes but you’re left wondering about that last person. The shifts in the arcs aren’t smooth but they aren’t abrupt either.

Do it like Higurashi.

I thought Higurashi were actually entirely distinct games, not alt endings for the same game…but maybe that’s wrong.

I don’t really like either way of doing that; it’s one reason I think so many game adaptations blow. I think the best might just be to pick a path and do a ~11 episode series or an ova.
