your thoughts have summoned this post from hell so, as i pray... Home > Archives > 2007 > March > 03 I suppose it’s time to say goodbye…Everyone is talking about it: It’s like, the event of 2007. Nothing can top it. I suppose it’s time for me to say my goodbyes to Danbooru, to thank it for everything it’s done for me, and to wish it nothing but the best of luck… “hop to it!” Really, we’ll get over this. I don’t mean to diminish the perceived importance of Danbooru with my words. It really was a great site and had some awesome content, not to mention the fact that the man behind it was a fairly génial fellow. Running a site like that, (that is, large and popular) only leads to trouble, and he should be commended for getting as far as he did. Not to mention developing the system that made this all possible. Congrats, man. Don’t think of this as Danbooru dying. Don’t think of this as a failure. If anything, it’s a victory. He cleared this level, we can say. He accomplished Danbooru. No one’s going to forget it—he’s left a positive imprint on our community. I’m honestly not sad that I won’t be able to look up images on Danbooru anymore, but then again, I never was much of a visual person. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always preferred words for conveying messages. In terms of my purposes, Danbooru’s absence won’t have a big impact. But it’s a fact that it was used extensively by this EL aniblogging community, and that it was a cornerstone of posts that weren’t anime reviews. For editorials, for off-topic, for shits and giggles, Danbooru’s images were constantly in use. I believe that its place can, and eventually will, be taken. But what it’s done for us, and what it was and is, cannot be replaced by anything. It is Danbooru, the first site of its kind of attain that amazingly high level of quality. Be well. P.S.—note how JASON didn’t post about Danbooru. DOES HE EVEN KNOW IT EXISTS?!! Seriously, the guy’s the least anime blogger (adj) of any anime blogger (n) I know. Fucking bastard. AND PEOPLE LOOK UP TO HIM!! |
it is moist & delicious meta and it's not even a lie! 18 ResponsesLeave a Comment |

I think Jason is just so far out of the loop that he is not connected to what is going on in the anime blogosphere. He is in his own little world.

I just think his style of writing is humorous, and he DOES coin a lot of terms/memes.

I find it humorous, too. Humorously shitty. The man can’t write.

Yeah, his whole egocentric arrogance is a big part of why he’s an ass. He takes the phrase and he hits you in the face with it. Again. And again. And again. And you, the poor dead horse, being hit again. And again. And again. And, to add insult to injury, a huge portion of his “terms/memes” are just him mis-romanizing Japanese words. “Day-to” ? Don’t make me laugh.

Actually, I really don’t see his memes or terms really making that big of an impact on the anime blogging world. They used to but not any more. He is just not that influential anymore. I used to like him back when I first starting reading anime blogs and writing my blog. But actually I don’t even bother to read his site anymore. Got too many other, better sites to read.

There’s bullying in the blogger-yard…
I guess I need to find a new “mentor”…

Bullying? I was just making an honest opinion.

Yeah, I digged further down into the old archives. I never knew everyone felt this way about Jason O.o… I guess he isn’t as great as I thought he was anymore…
Anyway, thanks for the offer, but I think I’ll try to learn from everyone in the anime blogosphere. You know, absorb all knowledge?

ITT Jason bashing – got my attention!
The man is too gabby for his own good. I lol at anyone who honestly thinks his posts are “influential” in any way. It’s more tiresome than anything.
>>and he DOES coin a lot of terms/memes.
Did he also invent 4chan and somethingawful.com?

LOL, A lot of “bashing” on the comments thread about this Jason Miao fellow. I also looked up to him as well, back when my anime blog (then known as Ronin’s Anime Chronicles”) was still in its infancy. Now that I’m on the “almost same” level as another Filipino blogger I used to hate, bluemist, I don’t feel that hate anymore. :)
Cheers!
P.S.: Jason should die. :P

I like the last link for “Everyone is talking about it”. :3
That /should/ be what people are talking about. :P
