A question about xxxHOLiC

How the hell can anyone hate it, dislike it, or even be disappointed with it? I just watched episode 19. It had good humor, was well-paced, and it was damn cute to boot. So maybe the limbs turn people off? Or is the manga so much better that it makes people’s stomachs turn when they see the anime?

I don’t get it. Please enlighten me.

After this last episode, I am thoroughly convinced that this is in the top tier of anime.

And the episodic stories they tell are a mixed bag.. the entertainment pretty much relative to how much Yuuko is involved or not.

It’s okay, but if it’s in the top tier of anime, that’s one hell of an accomodating tier. I’d hate to see what fits in the bottom *shudder*

I love the character designs. The animation could be slightly smoother.

While I agree with Crayotic that Yuuko really helps make episodes better, I think Watanuki and Doumeki make a good classic comedy duo with Doumeki as the straight man.

I think it’s vastly underrated (like I said on IRC), though I probably wouldn’t put it in my top tier.

Normally when I watch the anime for a manga I’ve read, I’m psyched to see the next chapter with sound and motion. With Holic, the revisit just feels tedious. I think it’s something about the pacing or the nature of the stories, though it could be it’s just be the animation and I can’t admit it to myself. I don’t have anything against the anime, it’s just that I’d just rather read the manga again.
