But at least I have a little girl in my luggage. This episode of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (in case you missed the reference in the post title…) was a great tragedy, hence the post title. Boy, it sure stirred up that melancholy. And I’m not making a bad joke about the abrupt end of the episode- the fact that the show has degraded into something I can blog about like this is a big pointer that there’s something gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Ahhh… so Koizumi, being related to some rich bastards, arranges for the SOS-dan to have a little summer trip to a remote island. Kyon’s sister (does she even have a name?) tries to stow away in his luggage, and he can’t resist her loli charms. Can you blame him? I certainly can’t. I’d let her stow away in my bag any day.

I love how whenever Haruhi says something ridiculous, Mikuru just smiles really broadly. I love how her eyes look when she does this. I love her voice when she affirms that the trip will be a blast. I love how she treats Haruhi like the dumb child you hide in the attic. STICK IT TO THE MAN, MIKURU!

I love how whenever Haruhi says something ridiculous, we get a lovely camera angle like this. I love how her … wait, not really. Why do they put this shit in? This series doesn’t need fanservice of this sort to be good. The fact that the producers are adding in shots like this tells me they have low confidence in the potential genius that is their show. Come on guys, stop acting like insecure pussies and GIVE US KYON’S HARUHI IMPERSONATIONS. I could care less about what Haruhi’s legs look like from this distorted angle.

There’s something beautiful about THIS shot, however. I’d like to turn around and applaud the producers right about now. Koizumi getting ready to fire off with his pool stick at Kyon’s little sister? “Your name is nonexistant and your brother smells of Haruhi. I hit pool balls in your general direction.”

Did I mention that this episode has a lot of Kyon’s little sister? Did I mention that she’s awesome in my Big H post? Did I mention that I need more of her? I think we need to get us some crossover IlyaxKyon’s sister doujinshi right about NOW. Preferrably in hgame form. You play as Kyon’s sister, and Ilya is the best ending.

STRIKING SEMBLANCE TO OISHI-SAN, NO?

I guess this is what happens when you piss off psychobitch killer lolis with dangerous weaponry. Perhaps this is what Oishi-san looked like after Rika got him in Higurashi scenario x, episode xx. Who killed this man, though? Will we learn next episode? No, in fact- it seems that episode 7 will jump to another point in time. Will the producers learn the meaning of continuity? Or is it the killer lolis we must scold? Did they jump in, kill the master of the mansion, and is the series resetting? Actually, if they did, I wouldn’t scold them- I’d look forward to how Kyon reacts to their creepiness.

Imagine a saner Keiichi in Higurashi, rattling off awesome narration a la Haruhi episode 2 Kyon. I’d love that. That’d instantly make the top 5 anime series ever. Too bad Kyon’s been declining every episode… he didn’t say anything funny at all this time around.

The show loses its good points one by one at every turn. Before long, it’ll have the same quality as Naruto 181. I’m not trying to hate on Haruhi, but the show is seriously decreasing in awesomeness- and in how unique it is. With every thing they drop, it’s filled with one more thing that’s standard anime. Speaking of which, is it just be or has Haruhi become less “dynamic”? Jason once asked the question “have we ever seen such a dynamic character before?” (paraphrase) and to this I answered mentally “well, people in real life are constantly moving, so I’d just say that KyoAni is doing a good job.” But no more? No more? Damn, only six episodes in and quality is already dropping. We’re not even half way, guys!
