SHIHO WOULD GET HIGH OFF THAT.

Well, I watched the pre-episode 1 installment of Joshikousei, and I found myself… not liking it? The moment I realized this, I grabbed my head and curled into a fetal position. Me… ME, not enjoying a show of this nature? Once I finished crying my eyes out (it’s been about fifteen minutes since I finished downloading the file…) I realized it was perfect.

The story of this episode is best summed up in any summary of the premise of the show. Girl, aiming for elegance, goes to all-girls’ high school. Girl finds that it’s not all that great. If anything, it’s the anti-Lillian. She falls down a flight of stairs, plants her crotch on another girl’s face, and is responded to with an “I don’t mind so much.” Ok, not so anti-Lillian.

HELL YES?

The episode wasn’t very exciting, in my opinion. I’m not going to compare its revelations to my experience of being a joshikousei, mainly because I’m a guy living in America. Perhaps there’s some appeal to joshikousei?! Am I, once more, in the wrong demographic? Am I, for once, not liking the show for all the wrong reasons?

There’s some ok comedy, such as the “surgical error” in trimming the skirts, but I feel like Ichigo Mashimaro is the shining beacon that dims all other comedy. Once I’ve gazed upon it, everything else seems bleak in comparison. I think I’m going to give up on watching funny shows.

I’m tagging this Yuri for now with great expectations and hopes. Most likely by the second episode these delusions will have simmered away. I hate life.
