Well, I watched the pre-episode 1 installment of Joshikousei, and I found myself… not liking it? The moment I realized this, I grabbed my head and curled into a fetal position. Me… ME, not enjoying a show of this nature? Once I finished crying my eyes out (it’s been about fifteen minutes since I finished downloading the file…) I realized it was perfect.

I just had a brilliant idea. Lillian Jogakuen has an elementary and middle school as well as its high school and college. Kyou no Go no Ni… today, in class 5-2… at Lillian Girls’ School! This might be the most brilliant thing ever mentioned. Cross Ichigo Mashimaro with Maria-sama ga Miteru. We can even have a Mai-HiME type development where they have happy comedy episodes, followed up by darker, depressing episodes. We can have Miu’s craziness and Yumi’s angst! And there’ll be little catholic loliyuries running around everywhere! Who’s with me here?!

As shown with mathematical logic, the inclusion of shoujo ai in Ichigo Mashimaro gives it a decisive edge over Kyou no Go no Ni. And this is why shoujo ai is good. This is why oyaji Nobue onee-chan is so awesome. Sure, Kn5n2 is looking interesting… but it’s missing something important. And that’s the sexually confused lolicon older sister. Without that, it’s just inferior to Ichigo Mashimaro. Shoujo ai can make a show.

Fate/Stay-night, the less-than-stellar Type-MOON anime of the season, has many deeper meanings if one looks a bit closer. Much like its relatives Mahou Sensei Negima and Psychic Academy, it employs important life lessons to further its importance in the realm of anime. It just wouldn’t stand out enough if it was full of new frames each episode, because, after all, we humans remember things. The fact the show uses the same scene over and over again helps communicate more with the audience.
